Sierra Nevada Journeys Code of Conduct

Sierra Nevada Journeys provides unforgettable outdoor experiences for campers. We prioritize the well-being, health, and safety of our campers, guests, and employees and follow all federal, state, and local guidelines. Also, Sierra Nevada Journeys is an accredited member of the American Camp Association®. The following Codes of Conduct establish expectations and ensure a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for everyone.

  1. To be kind and treat others the way they want to be treated. This means you will not intimidate, threaten, or cause physical or emotional harm to anyone while at camp.

  2. No bullying of any kind. No physical altercations, threatening to harm others or oneself, in jest or seriousness.

  3. No sexual harassment.

  4. To respect the personal journey and experiences of campers and staff, regardless of our differences. Sierra Nevada Journeys is an Equity Forward organization: campers and employees may identify as a gender different from the one assigned at birth; come from various cultures; belong to different race(s); practice different religious beliefs; or have any other identity or background that contributes to making our diverse world and camp a wonderful place.

  5. Listen and ask questions to understand better the perspectives of campers of different genders, races, or cultures from yourself.

  6. Empower others by using supportive actions and positive language to support and build confidence.

  7. To not watch, share, create, discuss, or joke about inappropriate or harmful content.

  8. Respect the facilities, clean up after yourself, and recycle or reuse whenever possible to ensure we have clean spaces to learn and play forever.

  9. Refrain from stealing, graffiti, or vandalism with or on Camp property (including stickers on any buildings, defacing property or causing any malicious property damage).

  10. Respect other’s personal belongings and refrain from taking, touching, or vandalizing anything that is not yours.

  11. Respect the entire camp community by following quiet hours and showing sportsmanship when playing with fellow campers.

  12. To not bring weapons and other hazardous materials to camp. This includes firearms, knives, mace, lighters, fireworks, and other dangerous items.

  13. To keep Sierra Nevada Journeys a smoke, drug, and alcohol-free zone. This means no marijuana, tobacco, vape pens, e-cigarettes, and other related substances. (It also includes prescription or over-the-counter medications, that are kept in the health center ONLY).

  14. Please leave all personal electronic devices safely at home, including cell phones, tablets, portable video game devices, etc.
