Rhony Bhopla

Science Educator

Rhony is of South Asian descent and speaks Punjabi and English. She is also a poet, book critic, and visual artist. She completed the Mosaic Education Network's 16-week Diversity, Equity & Inclusion workshop. She has taught 2nd, 4th and 5th grades, as well as arts education for the Crocker Art Museum. Rhony holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Davis. She completed her multiple-subject teaching credential program with San Francisco State University and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Pacific University in Oregon. She was awarded the Kwame Dawes Mapmakers Scholarship and a teaching assistantship at Pacific University. Rhony curated Mapmakers Alumni Institute webinars with international poets on the topic of Global Perspectives: Ecopoetics and Eco-writing.
