Joelle Sollfrank

Science Educator
Joelle is a full-time science educator with Sierra Nevada Journeys in Sacramento. Born and raised in the Bay Area, she spent much of her childhood outdoors — at the beach, in the forest, and soaking up the sunshine. Joelle graduated from UC Davis in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning, along with a minor in Education.

With nearly a decade of experience working with children and students, Joelle is passionate about teaching and connecting with others. Her love for meeting new people along with her goal to never stop learning, has taken her from being a summer camp counselor to teaching preschool and leading backpacking and camping trips during her time at UC Davis. She finds joy in learning alongside others and exploring the natural world with curiosity.

Joelle is deeply inspired by the natural beauty of California and beyond, and she strives to share her appreciation for the environment every day. She is particularly passionate about creating opportunities for students to spend time outdoors, fostering curiosity, play, and connection with their peers.

When she’s not teaching, Joelle enjoys running, swimming, backpacking, and listening to the ever-changing sounds of rivers and oceans.
